TryHackMe’s Data Policies
TryHackMe was founded to be the best place to learn cyber security, where training feels more like gaming with friends, and where industry newcomers and seasoned pros alike feel welcome and supported. We’re grateful to be part of your learning journey as you play such a critical role in defending our digital world.
We’ve seen your concerns, and we understand why this matters. We want to address them properly, not with a quiet policy update, but with a direct conversation.
TryHackMe Data used on NoScope
Let us start by saying, we have never used TryHackMe user data to train any AI models.
We should have been clearer from the start about what NoScope is and how data is used, that’s on us. We’ve updated the copy to reflect this, but we also wanted to address it directly.
How We Use Data at TryHackMe
We review anonymised, aggregated data to improve your experience on TryHackMe, we identify where learners get stuck so we can make content clearer and more effective. We’re focused entirely on the platform, and creating a better experience for our learners at TryHackMe.
If there's ever a case where we believe user data could improve a specific product we will ask for your explicit consent first. That's a commitment we're not willing to compromise on.
AI and the Future of Cyber Security Careers
We've also heard concerns about what AI means for careers in cyber security, particularly for pentesters. Our view is clear: the role is evolving, not disappearing.
As AI improves security at both the code and application level, many of today’s identifiable vulnerabilities will become far less common. What remains will be harder to uncover, particularly business logic flaws that demand deeper context and more creative thinking.
That means pentesters will spend less time on the obvious, and more time using AI to scale their work while focusing on complex, non-obvious paths.
Our mission has always been to help you get a job in cyber security, grow in it, and stay ahead of it. That hasn't changed. We're building the training to make sure you're ready for where the industry is heading including an AI training pathway launching soon.
As the industry evolves, so do the threats, and that’s exactly why the future of cyber security remains strong, with growing demand for people who can tackle them. We’ll keep adapting how we teach so you’re building the skills that matter for where cyber security is heading.
A Final Word
The cyber security world is moving fast. Adversaries are better equipped than ever, and the stakes have never been higher. But the professionals being trained today, the ones building real, practical skills are exactly what the industry needs most.
Again, our focus hasn’t changed: helping you build real skills and progress in your career. As the industry evolves, we’ll keep adapting how we teach, while staying transparent about how we do.
Thanks for your trust, and for being part of the TryHackMe community.
Happy hacking.
